Bastion has partnered with NOLA Seva and Jai Bhakti Yoga Foundation to bring FREE yoga classes to Bastion residents and the New Orleans community. Classes are open to the public and provide the perfect opportunity to meet our veteran neighbors.
LOCATION: Bastion Wellness Center, 1901 Mirabeau Ave
Restorative Yoga: Stressed? Muscles tight? Wish you could just relax? In restorative yoga we use props to support different body shapes, and let the props and gravity hold the shape as we relax into each posture. Instead of holding, we will be breathing. Must be able to get from standing to the floor and back up. Because we are limited by props, those who sign up in advance will be signed in first. After sign ups, first come, first served. You can always observe and breathe if we don't have enough props.
Chair Yoga: A yoga class based mostly from a chair, but you will sweat, and you will create space. Using props like chairs can assist us in making some of the shapes that are in yoga, but unfamiliar to our bodies. A great way to deepen and slow down.
cOMmunity Yoga: Bring your friends, a mat, and a willing spirit. This is a level 1 class and open for everyone at every level.
Yin and Restore Candlelight Yoga: A class with a gentle hip opening sequence and deep meditative layers to discover. Using props to fully support the body and make each posture more relaxing and renewing. Room is gently scented and will be lit by candlelight. Bring a friend, a mat, and an intention.
